Aside from having the coolest name in the industry, War Eagle Custom Lures offers high quality blades at a very agreeable price-point.
Available in 1/4, 3/8, 1/2, and 3/4 sizes, these blade baits feature a
host of finishes and blade combinations to choose from, yet do not stray from a simplistic, old school theme. War Eagle hardware is top notch, using a
medium grade wire that vibrates well, but does not get blown out by
aggressive, river fish. The hand tied
skirt is, by far, War Eagle’s most unique feature. Hand laid and wrapped by metal wire, this
eliminates my pet peeve; the suspect rubber band that
destroys skirts. Pulsating seductively
during the retrieve, the hand tied skirt adds a unique secondary
action thanks to selective layering. I find the three-eighths ounce, willow blade, nickel
series to be the most versatile lure of the bunch. Heavy enough to bomb long distance casts, it
gives off a big-bait profile but does not fall too quickly in the water
column. With twin willow leaf blades. one silver and one gold, I can
adjust how the bait rides in the water column; a burn pulls it higher
for shallow shoals. Slow it down a notch to bump cleaner bottoms or deeper pools. The most versatile color, in my experience,
is white-silver. Yes, plain white, with
silver hi-lights, is a day-in, day-out producer in my kayak. Bottom line, I truly enjoy fishing WarEagle's spinnerbait because of production, reliability, and value. High end components and hand tied skirts for $5.99 makes War Eagle one of the best value blade on the market.
