Spring Beak Tour: Wheeler Lake

Weather: 80, sunny, and 15 mile per hour winds
Water: mid 70s
Lures and Techniques: Spro Little John and KVD 1.5

My father and I floated a stretch of Lake Wheeler for fishing, exploration, and fellowship.  We usually come to this stretch in search of blue catfish, but decided to try out the bass fishing on this outing.  The river is still far from summer pool and all shoreline structure was far out of water.  This had all of the fish bunched up on off shore ledges or in backwater spawning pockets.  We located fish off shore, but could not stay on them with the heavy winds.  We blanked most of the day, but manged to score a few little white bass and some spots on the last stretch of bank before the take out.
